The necklace ‘The Heraut' was made on
the occasion of cooparation with Jewellery Collective:
'Haarlems Sieraad Collectief'
Theme: 'Monastery'/ 'Kloostergangen'
Twelve jewellery designers were inspired by the Cloisters
and the City Hall of Haarlem.
The special jewellery made by each designer is photographed by Vesna
Zuuring at twelve employees of the City Hall. During the ‘Kunstlijn
weekend’ in Haarlem. Visitors could experience what it is like
to wear a special jewel. They were also photographed by photographer
Vesna Zuuring.
Inspiration Necklace ‘The Heraut’:
I have been inspired by the portraits of the Haarlem city hall. This
series of paintings is made at the end of the fifteenth century to replace
the murals in the cloisters. Later the paintings were transferred to
the town hall. The paintings are often restored over the centuries,
the images and texts are painted more than once. These 'layers' in the
series of portraits inspired me to make a piece of jewellery consisting
of layers that appear when the necklace is open: you see a piece of
history and a portrait of 'The Heraut’.
